I’m Laura, a twenty something wife to Luigi, professional dieter and wannabe marathon runner who can’t run currently on a journey to change my life, not only for the better but for the awesome!
For the past 10 years have been on some form of diet, whether it be counting points, living off green or red days to shakes that keep your body within an inch of starvation. This is a different challenge, a journey that I’m really hoping will be that answer I’ve been searching for!
The reality of the situation is that I’m a serial yo-yo dieter desperate for a quick win, like an addict searching for her next fix. I’m hooked and trapped in an endless spiral of weight gain, depression, diet, loss, weight gain, depression and on and on…
The reality hit in September 2012 with a routine trip to the doctor where I finally managed to be brave enough to admit that I was unhappy with my weight and diet. I left that day not with medicine or on-going support, but armed with the knowledge that I’d admitted to myself I have a problem. That moment empowered me enough to realise that the only way I’ll be free of this kind of existence is by changing my life, doing something I’ve never done before.. Understanding exactly what my body needs and taking positive steps forward to lose the additional weight and learn what I need to maintain a healthy weight to be rid once and for all of the yo-yo spiral I’m stuck in.
This is where KiFit entered my life. I’d heard of these armbands that you wear which collect data about the calories you burn, how much you sleep, how many steps you take and it wasn’t long before it was on the way to me. So armed with my KiFit this is my story…
